What is the travel side hustle project?
It is a project of motivation. A project of drive. A project of achieving goals. A project to document the set up of a community on Instagram for travelers and travel-entrepreneurs. How we survive starting from scratch and learn from the process. It is about a guy with full time job trying to build a travel community network on instagram and create it so it is a self-finance project. ​

What is the travel side hustle project?
It is a project of motivation. A project of drive. A project of achieving goals. A project to document the set up of a community on Instagram for travelers and travel-entrepreneurs. How we survive starting from scratch and learn from the process. It is about a guy with a full time job trying to build a travel community network on instagram and create it so it is a self-finance project.

The Purpose : To document from day 1 each step what was done and release results regularly so readers can study, and feedback on the progress of the project.

Revenue Model: Multiple income stream, income is coming from affiliate programs: Amazon, booking.com, skyscanner.

Amazon affiliate program
I m writing from my own experience. I usually look to Amazon for books and subjects I want to explore. From the beginning, I searched for wealth accumulations, the key concepts of rich dad poor dad totally transformed me and enlightened me with concepts I never knew and it was told in a way so easy to learn.
I also read about start-ups ideas. $100 start ups and the later on side-hustle. I borrow ideas from there and I started this travel side hustle project.

While I m writing this blog, I just received a mail from Amazon that I'm not driving enough traffic into their site (image below)
So my goal here is to figure out a way to put affiliate links into this blog and in a way it would help the audience. ​

Travel affiliate programs
Booking.com and skyscanner
I m still figuring out the best way to do it. I don't think if we do the same as other blogs it would still work the same. I m more towards genuine and unique content. I was only able to write reviews on 1 hotel(link) I stayed in on an evening and a general link to booking.com and agoda to check rates.

Airbnb experience host (link)
I was doing a research about how private tours do their own promotions and the way they make a living because I originally had thought about a food catering service for a park attraction. I also applied for tripadvisor to get my service listed but was not accepted, the business has to run for at least a year.

I was searching for Airbnb affiliate program (link) which I m not yet qualified. Then, I read about a blogger hosting her trip in New York City, she put it up on Airbnb experience and market about it, I have forgotten and couldn't find it anymore. It immediately got my attention and I submitted an Airbnb host experience (bike trip) and luckily got approved. Click on the (link) about the trip. Content generation
I think that is the part that gets really interesting.
I just brainstorm an idea, e.g. How to spend USD10 per day and enjoy all the great stuff in China. I most probably will stay through Couchsurfing and traveling to China in a different way.

My next trip will be to Xi An looking at the Terracotta Apr 20-25, 2018. I get over-excited as I got accepted by 3 Couchsurfing host after I showedthem my website. They accepted a guy at his 40s haha. We are never too late! They must like my travel side hustle project! Or at least, I convinced myself to think this way. This is great positive mindset.

China will be my key focus as the country is receiving a great spotlight in global politics and I have set my long term vision to help China. It might look like it is getting better off now but there is still poverty issues and tragedies happening there that the outside world might not know.

Positive Mindset
Most importantly, I will write about how positive mindset training has got me over my upsets. And how positive mindset has enabled me to save the relationship with my wife and kids.

the happiness project

My project idea is somehow inspired by pieces of memories coming from the book the happiness project by Gretchen Rubin. Gretchen was at the crossroad when she was struggling to keep her well-paid lawyer job or to become a full time writer. Gretchen finally decided to focus on what's important in her life (and of course she quitted her job and pursued her writing career) and dedicated a year of her time to the happiness project.

She documented each month how she tested conventional wisdom & put them into actions achieving real happiness for different aspect of her life with her family, for her self-contentment & also at work.
I couldn't help to think the book might be full of "BS", but time and time again it just popped right in front of me in stacks of books or on the best-seller lists. It is no coincidence that it appeared in front of me, I think subconsciously I am seeking that same happiness but I was so in a hurry and I wanted to know techniques and actions that I forgotten how important it is to hold a bigger view of what you wanna do (it is really....happiness) and I bought the book at the end.

The writing is really lifestyle and it is really easy to use them in real life, you can really feel the lightness and happiness in her writing. Many of her resolutions in keeping track of happiness & progress were useful & applicable, and are great habits builders towards a successful lifestyle.
This resolution chart is really useful in keep track of your progress and helps remind you everyday working towards your goals. You can see of one of them below.

In her book, March was a month for career and leisure, so she decided to tackle that with 8 action items, she would put a check mark on the chart and cross check everyday whether she has done it or not.
I personally found it really worked and I do put a chart for myself every month and for me it is the travel_side_hustle project!
